Port Harcourt, Rivers – Twin explosions rocked the rally of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital on Thursday, January 19.

According to The Punch, no less than three persons were injured at the rally which was going on at the Rumuwoji Playground.

The affected persons were women and have been rushed to the hospital for medical treatment.

Darlington Nwauju, the APC publicity secretary in the state confirmed the explosion, stating that it is an unfortunate development.

However, the spokesperson of the police in the state, Iringe-Koko is yet to comment on the incident but has promised to speak on it soon.

Nyesom Wike, the governor of the state and a leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state has been at loggerheads with the leadership of his party.

The governor has vowed that no other party will win any elective position in the state in the forthcoming election.

Wike at a political rally in the Ikwerre local government area of the state said the 2023 election is a fight to finish.

Wike said:

“This election we are going for is a fight to finish and we are very ready.”

As of the time of filing this report, neither the state government nor the police has made an official statement on the explosions.

Tension in Ondo as soldiers allegedly sponsored by APC lawmaker to attack PDP members

calabargistblog.com.ng in an earlier report disclosed that the Ondo state chapter of the PDP has claimed that Tajudeen Adefisoye, a lawmaker of the APC representing Idanre/Ifedore federal constituency, sent soldiers to attack its members.

The lawmaker had earlier claimed that some youths of the PDP attacked his convoy while some of his supporters were subsequently injured in the Idanre area of the state.
