The progressives governor of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has met with President Muhammadu Buhari and urged him to allow the old and new naira notes to co-exist to ease the suffering of Nigerians.
The Kaduna state governor, Nasir El-Rufai, disclosed that the APC governors made the request during their meeting with the President on Friday, February 3.

Buhari begs Nigerians to give him 7 days to avert naira scarcity crisis
El-Rufai hinted that President Buhari neither approve nor declined their request.
But President Buhari later took to his verified Twitter page and apologise to Nigerians for the difficulties being confronted on the new naira note policy.
He asked Nigerians to give him 7 days to fix the challenges. The 7 days is part of the earlier 10 days extension that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor earlier announced.

The President posited that the new currency redesign would boost the country’s economy with long-term benefits.
However, Buhari expressed doubt about the commitment of banks to supporting the government’s monetary policy.

The governor further said that the second step was the zoning, adding that Buhari insisted that their earlier agreement to zone the presidency to the south must not change.
