The embattled former national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Iyorchia Ayu, has taken legal action against his suspension by the party.
The Punch reports that Ayu is set to challenge his party’s decision to replace him as national chairman through the Benue State High Court, Makurdi.

Simon Imobo-tswam, the special assistant on communication to Ayu confirmed that his principal is not taking his suspension.
Imobo-tswam said Ayu would challenge his suspension before a competent court of jurisdiction.
He added that the opposition party has already done what it deems fit as regards the matter and other actions will be carried out in a civil manner.
He said:
“PDP has said everything concerning the issue. So, there is no need to say more.”
PDP Substitutes Ayu as National Chairman, reveals replacement
The heat is on in the camp of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the crisis within the party hits a new dimension.
Emerging reports have confirmed that the party has replaced the suspended national chairman Senator Iyorchia Ayu with Umar Damagum.
Damagum, the new chairman of the opposition party is expected to function on an interim basis, pending when the National Working Committee reaches a compromise for a new chairman.

Meanwhile, the governor of Rivers state, Nyesom Wike, has again tackled the national chairman of the PDP, Iyorchia Ayu.
Wike said his fight with the PDP national chairman has just started, insisting that Ayu does not deserve to lead the main opposition party.
The Rivers state governor warned other PDP stakeholders against siding with Ayu, who has been suspended by his ward executives in Benue.
