Nigerian musician Joeboy has come to the protection of fellow Afrobeats star Wizkid, claiming that the general public is misinterpreting Wizkid’s current feedback or actions.
Wizkid made feedback saying that he wasn’t purely an Afrobeats artist. And that prompted a significant uproar from Nigerian netizens. Joeboy appears to consider that the scenario has been misconstrued. He stated “Wizkid’s assertion is being misunderstood, he isn’t operating away from Afrobeats.”
Joeboy expresses his help for Wizkid. “All we’re saying is our id is Afrobeats however please don’t field us as a result of we are able to make different genres of music too” Joeboy continued.
It is clear that Joeboy stands with Wizkid, sharing the sentiment that whereas Afrobeats is their basis, they should not be restricted to creating solely that style.
